How to talk to your Body

“Listen to Your Body” is the name of the famous book by Lise Bourbeau, an amazing French-Canadian author of books on metaphysical understanding and viewing of one’s body (she learned a lot from Louise Hay)These words came quite timely to me, as on Friday while getting ready for the Sabbath - cooking, cleaning, etc. I all of a sudden felt the sharp pain in my back - the middle region, that followed by strange numbness, then again sharp pain and again strange numbness.  After a few seconds of this intolerable pain I realized that I threw my back out!  This realization came instantly, and the next moment I started analyzing what is happening within my life to bring such metaphysical message to myself through my own body.  The answer did come, although not right away but within a few hours, as I tried to rest on a couch reading - my favorite Sabbath activity, yet this time it was not so pleasurable. The pain followed me quite meticulously- allowing each muscle within my body to be felt with this pain. The revelation came to me slowly (and painfully most of the time, as Tylenol did not help much). The first revelation came - Resistance!  As I am to start the 21 days of intensive Neurographica drawing focusing on no less than Body Image!  That is right - BODY IMAGE!  So the first revelation that came, was that this is the body’s way of letting me know what it thinks of my crazy (some may say Meshugenah - which means what-did-you-think-you-were-doing, also known as who-do-you-think-you-are-messing-with (a loose translation from Hebrew word which leterally means “crazy”)) idea to work with my body image and go through transformations that will bring further changes within my environment. So my first reaction to that was - “hmmm… really…well… Game On!  I am glad to see that you are reacting and preparing for the work I am getting ready to bring. “Then I started to talk to my body - specifically my back - seeing what it is trying to numb me from or in this case as I discover was to numb me within myself - numb me from a pain that initiated within myself. Then I started to talk to he pain and see what it represents - what part of me was in such a pain within my psyche that it had the need to go through my body, to bring some kind of a message to me. I heard the message and accepted it. Saw the pain. And throughout it all I kept saying the main phrase: “ I am aware and acknowledge the physical sensation I experience and give it place and space within my day, and within my whole life.”(Some of you know this phrases from my courses)Acceptance!  That was an important part. As important as having a conversation with my inner self - inner child, inner parent (I was inflicting punishment of a kind upon myself) and of course activating my inner adult to make peace between those two and establishing order.  Some kind of an order. At that point the main thing was minimizing the pain so I can go further in my life - like resting and sleeping. The next day in the morning I remembered that last time I had a physical ailment it truly helped to do a session with BoGoBan. So I did some self-coaching. And hoped for a speedy recovery. Recovery came little by little throughout the whole day. My back gained some more sensation and of course that was connected to the fact that the pain started to step away from me. I was able to actually sit and read - with many pillows put in various positions around my body.  Slowly but surely pain went away. As I am typing this now on Saturday night, the pain is still somewhat felt within the right side of my back rib, although it is not overwhelmingly painful anymore, thanks G-d. And yes I am able to move my fingers and type on the iPad this post ))And yes I am even more ready now for the Body Image program to start on Monday. In fact quite to eager to do so. Resistance is an excellent way to get rid of hesitations and become more sure pursuing your goal At least that is how it worked for me this time.
